National Servicemen honoured at Burwood church parade

Charles, who is still a serving Officer with the Army Reserve,  attended the National Serviceman's Association Church Parade held on Sunday 6th November.

The parade started in George Street and made its way down Burwood Road to the Uniting Church where a service in memory of all those Service men and women who have sacrificed their lives in defence of Australia.

Charles said "It is important that we remember what the cost has been for all of us to enjoy the prosperity, freedom and liberty that we so often take for granted".

"The link with our past, one that should make us all feel rightly proud needs to be nurtured, what we are and who we are as a people and a modern society has its roots in courage and selfless devotion to duty" he said.

"Equally we need to be mindful of the sacrifices being made today by members of the Australian Defence Force, the most recent the three deaths of our servicemen in Afghanistan" Charles said.
