Brighton Street development - Charles to attend JRPP meeting

Charles has written to residents surrounding the proposed development site on Brighton Street Croydon urging them to attend the upcoming Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP) meeting to be held at Burwood Council on Wednesday 23 November at 5.00pm.

"The first JRPP meeting received 326 submissions, 2 petitions with 849 and 109 signatures respectively, and 34 people addressed the Panel at the meeting.  I understand that this issue is of importance to our community, and I will be attending to lend my support.  I am still not entirely happy with the outcome and if you are able to attend, I encourage you to do so" Charles said.

The meeting agenda and business paper will be available on the Regional Panels' website www.jrpp.nsw.gov.au under the 'Development Register' section and Burwood Council's website www.burwood.nsw.gov.au from Wednesday 16 November 2011.

Residents that wish to speak at the panel meeting must register with the Panel Secretariat before 4.00pm Monday 21 November 2011 by calling (02) 9383 2121 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

As the Regional Panel will have read all the submissions and documentation before the Panel meeting, speakers should focus their oral submissions on the assessment report and its recommendation rather than re-stating the information in written submissions.

As a guide, individual submitters will have 3 minutes to speak, a speaker for a community organisation/group will have 10 minutes to present. The applicant, including their consultant(s), will have a total of 15 minutes to present and address issues raised in public submissions. Any requests for extending time limits should be made to the Panel at the meeting and may be granted at the discretion of the Panel Chair.

"It is my opinion that the buildings fronting the streets on the northern end are too high, the height of these buildings should be reduced" Charles said.
