Improving indigenous job opportunities in Strathfield Electorate

The NSW Government has announced a boost to funding for vocational education in the Strathfield Electorate.

The Minister for Education, Adrian Piccoli, said the extra funding has been made available through the Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Program. “The Elsa Dixon Program helps to promote diversity, innovation and community links within the NSW workforce by breaking down barriers to employment and promotion for Aboriginal people,” said Minister Piccoli.

Charles also welcomed the funding. “This program is designed to help Aboriginal people with job opportunities and career development,” he said . “The funding will go to the Ashfield Council to support the employment of an Aboriginal Community Development Officer. “The Elsa Dixon Program will continue to break down some of the barriers that Aboriginal people face, and enable more Aboriginal people to make a contribution to the workforce."

The Elsa Dixon Program is administered by Aboriginal Services, State Training Services within the NSW Department of Education and Communities.
